The Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts at Cronton Sixth Form was thrilled to welcome four incredibly talented West End musical stars for a very special evening of theatre and song at the College’s new Playhouse Theatre.
In collaboration with the talented Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts students, Widnes native Zoe Curlett and her West End colleagues Carl Sanderson, Becky Vere and Keiron Crook entertained a sold out crowd with musical favourites from hit shows including The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Carousel and Cats.
‘West End & Beyond’ was the second production at the College’s new 320 seat theatre, following on from The Phantom of the Opera which took place earlier in the year to rave reviews.
The evening was a fantastic opportunity for Performing Arts students to work alongside industry professionals and pick up knowledge which will help to develop their own talents. Zoe Curlett, Patron of the Centre of Excellence at the College, is a great inspiration for the Performing Arts students who have been motivated to see a local girl progress to outstanding heights in the industry; starring in major West End productions including The Phantom of the Opera, Cats and many more.
The next production at the Cronton Playhouse theatre is ‘A Chorus Line’ which takes place over two nights on Thursday 27th June and Friday 28th June at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 and can be purchased by calling the College box office, Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm, on 0151 257 2032.
Matt Plant, Programme Leader of the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts said, “Over the years we have been able to work with some wonderful guests, but the opportunity of being able to share the day with people who have worked with the best and performed all over the world was extraordinary. There was so much that our students were able to learn from their tried and tested techniques that they could take into the industry and build upon. It was a perfect evening that really kept the momentum of this wonderful year on a high!”
