Exciting Events at College for Children in Need
On Friday 18th November, Cronton Sixth Form College and Riverside College organised a series of exciting events and fundraising activities in aid of BBC Children in Need 2016, raising a fantastic total of over £700 for the charity.
Staff and students from both colleges came together to take part in events including; bake sales, prize raffles, jiu jitsu sessions, rowing machine challenges, face painting sessions, FIFA tournaments on Xbox, five-a-side football tournaments, performances by music students, and a wet sponge throwing competition.
Riverside College also held a special ‘Bath of Beans’ challenge. Boxes were set up in reception for people to donate money to decide which pair of staff members would be dunked in a bath of beans. The box with the most money in at the end of the week would determine the ‘winners’. Staff members Lee Simpson and Jay McKenna, both Specialist Tutors at Riverside College, would take the plunge.
College Enrichment Officer, Joe Clements, said “It’s been a brilliant day, with lots of staff and students coming together to raise a great amount of money for this great cause. Everyone went above and beyond to raise money for the charity and I am very proud of what we have achieved.”
