What is this course about?
This programme is designed to provide you with the best ‘hands on’ experience in animal management and science. The course covers an outstanding blend of practical and theoretical activities covering a wide range of animals and their care, management and well-being. This course has been specifically designed to enhance the career opportunities for anyone wishing to work within the animal sector including clinical laboratory-based environments.

What will I study?
This qualification is ideal for those passionate about working with animals and looking to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. The Core Components cover broad knowledge and understanding of the animal care sector, including health and safety principles, business management, professional responsibilities, sustainability and working in the agriculture, environmental and animal care sector. The Animal Care and Management Core Pathway covers topics like health and safety principles, biosecurity, supply chain management, and anatomy and physiology. During this two-year course Occupational Specialisms in Animal Management and Science are integrated into the delivery of the programme where learners will develop further knowledge in research processes, conservation, animal biology, breeding captive animals and management, genetics, nutrients, disease and safely handling practices.
Entry requirements:
A minimum of 5 x GSCEs at 9-4 including English with a grade 5 in maths and science is required to study the T level in Animal Care and Management
What will this course lead on to?
On completion of the T Level learners will study at further education in the fields of animal behaviour, animal welfare, and animal conservation, pursuing careers as animal care assistants, animal behaviourists/trainers, veterinary nurses, animal care assistants, zookeeper, animal technician, dog groomer, animal inspector and more.
Facilities
The College is extremely fortunate to be able to have its own Animal Resource Centre. The animals we have include Guinea pigs, rabbits, turtles, snakes, reptiles, birds and stick insects to name just a few. The students take over the responsibility for handling and maintaining these animals and to carry out regular health checks on them. The college works alongside several animal related organisations, which give our students regular access to realistic working environments and experience with a full range of species.
How will I be assessed?
The course involves two exams, assignments, employer set project, synoptic and research assignments and 315 hours of industry placement.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
You will need to purchase a DBS, laboratory coat for practical work and a work placement polo shirt
