Please note all of our A Level courses must be studied as part of a full time A Level programme. You will choose 3 A level subjects to study over two years.
What is this course about?
In Business Studies, you will literally do what it says and study businesses and how they operate. You will examine how firms market their products, how they manage and motivate their staff and how they ensure that they make a profit. You will consider how businesses ensure they make good quality products and how various factors outside of the business, such as the economy, might affect a firm. This course will provide you with the tools to think as a business manager and apply your ideas to the real world.

Entry requirements:
A minimum of 3 x 5’s and 2 x 4’s at GCSE including a Grade 5 in English Language, Grade 5 in Maths and a Grade 5 in another written subject.
What will this course lead on to?
You could progress on to a BA Hons degree in Business and Management, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management or Teaching. Following this you could enter employment in a wide variety of roles in many different organisations in either graduate training programme, as trainee managers or senior administrative or assistant’s roles.
Enrichment Opportunities
You will have the opportunity to enter a team for the “Make Your Mark Challenge”, a national competition for Business Studies students. In addition, a number of trips and visits will be organised through the year, to support your studies. A Level Business Studies students often involve themselves in various committees within college helping to organise charity fundraising and college events.
How will I be assessed?
You will be externally assessed by written exams at the end of the second year of the course. These will consist of structured data response questions, and essays.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
There are no direct costs associated with this course, though you will need a calculator and you will need to provide your own stationary. It is also recommended that you buy the course text book.
Facilities:
The subject has its own dedicated class room, and students have access to IT facilities in the LRC and the Cube.
