West End star in Les Miserables master class at Cronton Sixth Form
West End Star Zoe Curlett returned to Cronton Sixth Form this week to help the cast of Les Miserables prepare for their forthcoming production.
The Centre of Excellence in Performing Arts are in full rehearsal for their show on the 27th, 28th and 29th November and Zoe came to work with them on some of the large ensemble sections of the show, giving the students direction as well as inspiration in order to create their best production yet.
Zoe appeared as Cosette in Les Miserables in the West End in 2000 and 2001, and was able to pass on her personal experiences of performing in the show, as well as offering the students advice about how to create right atmosphere for this powerful production.
Zoe said, “The students at Cronton are so wonderful and enthusiastic, their commitment is astounding”.
Matt Plant, Artistic Director at the Centre of Excellence in Performing Art said, “Rehearsals are well underway at Cronton Sixth Form College for Les Miserables. The cast were delighted to welcome West End Star and College Patron, Zoe Curlett for her fourth trip to the college to work with them and give them some pointers from her days starring as Cosette in the legendary original London production that still runs today.”
The students were also joined by Kate Webster, a pupil from Stockport School, who are also in rehearsals for their own production of Les Miserables. Matt Plant, the director of the show at Cronton Sixth Form invited Kate to take part in Zoe’s master class; she worked with the Centre of Excellence students during the afternoon to gain experience to take back to her own school.
