Health and Social Care Students Prepare for the Future at LJMU
First year Health and Social Care students at Cronton Sixth Form had the opportunity to learn first aid techniques and meet the Health Team during an interactive taster day at Liverpool John Moores University.
Accompanied by college teaching staff, the students were able to use the university facilities to learn how to perform CPR, practice vaccinations in a simulation ward, and how to ensure the correct cleanliness and hygiene procedures are in place during a medical procedure using ultra violet equipment.
They group were also able to tour the campus, look in on lessons, experience the accommodation and leisure facilities, and learn about the different courses and progression opportunities the university can offer.
Karen Cunliffe, Programme Area Leader for Health & Social Care, said “Thank you to the staff and students at LJMU for their time and generosity. Our students have gained valuable employability skills which will help with their future careers. Our students made such a great impression that the Health Team have invited them back next term to practice mock interviews in preparation for university.”
