Dancers studying on the Professional Dance Programme (PDP) at Cronton Sixth Form topped of an amazing week with some fabulous news.
The final dance show, ‘The Immortal Swan’ played to a full house at the Brindley Theatre Runcorn with an audience including the Lady Mayoress and Sarah E. Baker the Head of Dance at LIPA. The show received fantastic reviews, with all of the students performing brilliantly throughout the whole performance.
Sophie Hind and George Cartwright, who both played lead characters in the show, continued to celebrate after receiving news about their futures.
Both dancers, who are previously from the Grange School in Runcorn, were hoping to study dance at LIPA in September. They had both auditioned, George had a place on the reserve list and Sophie had an offer for the foundation course.
After their final performance of the Immortal Swan last week, George received a letter with an offer for the Dance Degree and Sophie was informed that she has been offered a full scholarship to do the course. Both dancers are now really excited to start at LIPA in September.
Sophie said, ‘Being part of The Professional Dance Programme at Cronton has given me amazing training and opportunities. All my teachers have helped me achieve my goal of gaining a place at The Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA)’.
Steven Musa, Programme Leader at The Professional Dance Programme (The PDP) at Cronton Sixth Form College said, “I am extremely proud of all of the dancers and am really pleased for Sophie and George.
“The Professional Dance Programme (The PDP) is a unique and intensive practical course developed for both creative and technical dancers who hold the relevant performance skills for today’s dance industry, leading to training at a University, Conservatoire or Vocational Dance Schools. Dancers studying on The PDP will have many opportunities throughout the two years to create and perform at a number of dance venues. Recent performances have included The Lowry in Manchester, MOVE IT at the London Olympia and at the UDO World Street Dance Championships.”
