Cronton is the only Sixth Form College to exhibit on the Diet Coke catwalk at ‘The Clothes Show Live 2013’
After the success of their exhibition last year, Cronton students not only had the opportunity to exhibit their work to the 120,000 people who attended this year’s Clothes Show Live at the NEC Birmingham but were the only sixth form college invited to take part in The Diet Coke Image catwalk alongside university students. The Diet Coke catwalk showcases graduate fashion talents and the rising stars of the British Fashion Industry and was watched by top designers, high street buyers, merchandisers, as well as members of the public.
Maxine Mealey, Head of Cronton School of Art said, “All of the students and staff who were part of Clothes Show Live exhibition and catwalk show had an incredible time at the NEC Birmingham. Yet again, the Cronton students have been fantastic; their designs looked incredible on the catwalk and were recognised as excellent by attending universities and Clothes Show Live organisers. We have had remarkable feedback from the dressers and models who wore the student’s designs on the catwalk.
“The students also had another fabulous opportunity. After attending a seminar by renowned fashion designer Zandra Rhodes, when they were invited to meet the British fashion icon after her presentation to ask questions and gain valuable advice. The students were extremely pleased and excited to meet such a global star in the fashion world.
“We now have plans to return to the event next year and one of the Clothes Show organisers is planning a trip to the College to meet with the students and staff in the New Year.”
