This subject but must be studied over two years as part of our A Level programme. You will choose 3 A level subjects to study over two years.
What is this course about?
This course is designed to develop the necessary skills to allow you to progress into a variety of highly skill areas, you will develop skills that will allow you to successfully apply a practical understanding of IT into a wide variety of careers. You will cover a variety of topics relating to the use of ICT in the digital world. You will also complete two practical projects focusing on business problems and how we can use ICT to solve those problems.

It is an exciting time to study an ever evolving subject that impacts our daily lives, through the study of IT you will learn to be able to use new technologies and services to enhance decisions making and also be able to demonstrate your ability to reach out to new audiences using social media.
Technology makes up a large portion of the United Kingdom’s economy and we are heading through a digital revolution. Information Technology allows you to be part of the future as well as preparing you with skills for jobs that haven’t even yet been created.
You will also have the opportunity to see IT in actions by taking part in different trips such as seeing how technology is used at Alton Towers and Disneyland Paris. You will also be invited to the largest game convention in UK, where you will have the opportunity to meet software developers and universities.
Entry requirements:
A minimum of 3 x 5’s and 2 x 4’s at GCSE including a Grade 5 in English Language and Grade 5 in Maths.
What will this course lead on to?
You could progress to a BA Hons/BSC (Hons) degree in ICT or Computing related courses or a Business related degree at university or stay on at college and do a HND in Computing. For some students a related apprenticeship will be an alternative option.
Following this you could enter employment in a wide range of IT roles such as a Systems Analyst, Digital Marketer, Database Administrator, Social Media Executive, Systems Developer, Web Developer and Project Manager roles.
Enrichment Opportunities:
There are a variety of Enrichment activities that you can get involved in: Virtual Reality Club, CISCO IT Essentials, CISCO CCNA, Adobe Certified Associate exams. Students will also take part in Local and National Competitions such as Bebras Computing Challenge and CyberCenturion.
Our students also enhance their studies by taking part in different trips including: International trip to Disneyland Paris for Computing Live!; EGX – UK’s largest computer game convention and Bletchley Park – the home of the codebreakers.
Are there any costs associated with this course?
Standard course materials such as, pen, pencil, and paper will be needed. All students will have OneDrive cloud storage that will allow them to access work outside of the classroom. You will be required to pay for trips and visits.
