Colleges Raise Over £1000 for BBC Children in Need
Riverside College and Cronton Sixth Form College, along with Rugby League stars from the Widnes Vikings, raised over £1,000 for BBC Children in Need with a series of exciting fundraising events at both campuses.
Throughout the day, both colleges hosted events for staff and students to take part in to raise money for the charity, including ‘Superhero Bingo’, spin bike challenges, a college bake sale, a coffee morning event, and a raffle.
‘Superhero Day’ also took part at both colleges, with staff and students able to wear their favourite superhero costume for the day in return for a donation to Children in Need.
Widnes Vikings superstars Danny Craven and Jack Owens joined Riverside College to help them take on the Spin Bike Challenge. This involved a spin bike set up to power a light bulb, with turns on the bike taken to help keep it lit throughout the day. The Vikings helped to successfully complete the challenge, and also stopped to have some photos taken with fans at the college.
In total, an incredible amount of £1,050 was raised for the charity.
College Enrichment Officer Hannah Horgan said, “I would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to Children in Need. The atmosphere across both colleges was terrific, and there was a real community feel. Well done to all staff and students who participated in the events for such a fantastic cause.”
