Head of School
Iain is Head of School for Sport, Public Services & Vocational Science departments and previously coached the college football team who won the Association of Colleges League on multiple occasions. Iain has over 20 years teaching and Centre of Sporting Excellence experience and prior to teaching he played for Wrexham Football Club.
Faye Gaskin
Level 2 Course Team Leader, Female & Male Rugby Team Coach & TASS Designated Lead
Faye is the L2 Sport Course team leader and the Female and Male Rugby Team Coach. Faye has a vast sporting background having previously played Rugby League internationally for England and currently plays at St Helens RLFC. Faye also is our designated dual career coordinator of TASS at Cronton.
Hannah Bolton
Programme Area Leader Sport
Hannah is the Programme Area Leader for Sport and has 10 years’ experience in education. Hannah teaches on A-level and BTEC Pathways and is the departments HE link Tutor. Previously Hannah has coached the female football team and ran the Gym Cose sessions.
Joe Batten
Level 3 Course Team Leader Male Football Coach
Joe is Level 3 Sport Course Team Leader and also teaches on the college’s HE Provision. Joe has many years’ experiences coaching football at a high level currently coaching at Oldham Athletic Academy where is he completing his UEFA A Licence. Previously Joe coached at Liverpool FC, Chester FC, Fleetwood Town & Wrexham FC.
Trevor Burton
A Level Course Team Leader Male Football Coach
Trevor is course team leader for A Level sport and has had 20 years’ experience in education. During his time at the college, he has coached the college football team to multiple league and cup titles, previously coaching for many years in the northwest amateur leagues at club level.
Melissa Turk
Netball Team Head Coach
Mel joined the Centre of Sporting Excellence Coaching team in September 2025 and brings a wealth of experience in netball across the North West, playing competitively in Liverpool, Preston, and Warrington. Mel brings passion, commitment and a strong player-centred approach, providing opportunities for the team to develop and play competitively in the AOC league.
