Taking place at the St John Ambulance Liverpool headquarters, Georgia was up against many other cadets from the Cheshire & Merseyside areas. Against strict criteria, they were assessed on a range of subjects including presentation skills, working with the media, first aid knowledge, and communication skills.
Georgia, who volunteers at Whiston Hospital as part of her course work placement, was also assessed in an interview where she was asked how she would represent St John Ambulance and be successful in the role if she were to win the competition. The former pupil at Ormiston Chadwick Academy impressed in all areas and beat the competition to be overall winner.
Following her win, Georgia commented, “I feel proud to represent Cheshire & Merseyside and I look forward to the responsibilities and duties that are ahead of me. I have had plenty of support from my College tutors, and I am grateful for it.
“I would like to also thank my youth leader who volunteered me for the competition; he believed I would succeed based on my first aid skills and how I get on well with others.”
Georgia was presented with an engraved shield to mark her success which will be displayed for the following year.
