Student Achievements Celebrated at End of Year Vocational Awards
Cronton Sixth Form College and Riverside College came together last week to celebrate the achievements of their students at their annual Vocational Student of the Year Awards ceremony. The event provides an opportunity to honour the outstanding student efforts and achievements during their time at college.
Around fifty awards were presented on the night by senior College staff and guests who included Mayor of Halton, Councillor Shaun Osborne and Mayoress of Halton, Mrs Della Osborne.

The audience were entertained with an interlude of music from Cronton Performing Arts students Richie Redmond and Bethany Horan plus a stunning ‘hat showcase’ by the Riverside Hairdressing & Media Make-up students.
Special recognition went to Alex Tague and Kayleigh Owen who took home the awards for Overall Apprentice of the Year and Overall Student of the Year, respectively.
Alex, from Widnes, is currently enjoying a successful apprenticeship at manufacturing company M & B Tools Ltd while Kayleigh, from Warrington, is a student on the Level 3 Advanced Professional Cookery course and has represented Riverside College in national competitions including The British Culinary Federation Student Cook and Serve.
Principal Mary Murphy said “The whole evening was fantastic, it’s important our students are recognised for the hard work and dedication they have demonstrated during their time at College, which has allowed them to realise their potential and progress on to Higher Education or promising careers.”
Paula Mitchell, Programme Manager at Riverside College, said “The Awards Evening was a celebration of all that our vocational students and apprentices have achieved academically, and to recognise their often significant contributions to the college and wider communities. It was brilliant to be able to share the evening with so many parents, friends, staff, governors, employers and the Mayor and Mayoress of Halton. As a college we are very proud of our vocational students and we wish them every success in the future.”
