Cronton Physics Students Win NW UK Space Design Competition and Compete in National Finals in London!
Recently, a group of our talented Physics students took part in the North West UK Space Design Competition, where they were challenged to design the second human settlement on Mars.
Their brief was to showcase modern construction techniques, advanced operations, and imaginative design that could realistically support human life on the Red Planet. After a full day of intense brainstorming, designing, marketing, and considering key human medical and survival factors, the team presented their visionary proposal to a panel of expert judges—and they WOWED them!
The Cronton team went on to win the regional competition, earning their place in the National Finals in London at Imperial College London, where they competed for the chance to advance to the international stage in Florida.
At the finals in London, the students performed incredibly well, once again showcasing their innovation, teamwork, and passion for science and engineering.
A Level Physics student and Team member Joseph Sweeney reflected on the experience:
“I really loved taking part in the comp because it was both challenging and ridiculously rewarding. It forced me to have to depend on and work with loads of people I had never met before—and now I’m quite good friends with them. It’s something I think everyone should have a go at!”
A huge well done to our brilliant students on this out-of-this-world achievement!
