Les Misérables outstanding success for the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts
The Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts at Cronton Sixth Form has received incredible feedback after their show-stopping performance of Les Misérables School Edition.
The talented students were already in rehearsals for Les Misérables in the Cronton Playhouse when the decision was made to live stream the production so as many people as possible could watch the show. The cast and production team quickly adapted, fully embracing the new opportunity, and set about experimenting with cameras in rehearsals to try and achieve the best theatrical production possible for the audience, this also gave the students the chance to learn about performing on camera.
The show did not disappoint and over the two nights, the cast received excellent feedback from a delighted audience, including, “I’m struggling to put into words how incredible this performance was! I have seen “Les Mis” on the big stage on numerous occasions, it’s my favourite production by far. All I can say is that I would pay money to see this again! What an achievement!”.
The students were overwhelmed with the positive feedback and are looking forward to their next production. Matthew Plant, Creative Director of the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts said, “This has been a huge undertaking for everyone concerned, none more so than the wonderful students who have come in to rehearse and film and re-shoot and replace one another at a moment’s notice. They have completely taken it all in their stride and some of the performances are quite overwhelming considering the last eighteen months that they have had. Their dedication to the project and endless enthusiasm has driven every moment of this production and we will never forget how, under the most extraordinary conditions, each student testing every day in the theatre prior to performing, we were able to create this wonderful production with outstanding students during exceptional times.”
