What is this course about?
This exciting one-year course offers students a broad introduction to the main areas of art & design practice. The programme is designed to provide an excellent bridging year for students who wish to improve their art & design qualifications profile and to develop greater confidence in a wide-range of art & design skills. In addition to studio-based work, a number of visits to galleries, exhibitions and locations of interest throughout the course, will inspire creativity and introduce you to the diverse and dynamic world of professional art and design culture.

A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade 9 – 3 including a Grade 3 in English Language, Grade 2 in Maths and a Grade 9 – 3 in an Art or Design related subject. You will be required to present a portfolio of work, to confirm your commitment and suitability to enrol on this programme of study.
How will I be assessed?
The units are delivered through a series of industry related assignment briefs which simulate a real-life experience of working within the creative industries. You will also work to briefs set by local industry partners or community organisations; this will enable you to receive feedback from real clients. Your practical project work will be assessed in a variety of ways, including: self-review, peer assessment and will then be graded by your tutors at key stages throughout your course. You will be given regular written feedback to help you improve the standard of your work to achieve higher grades.

Successful completion of this course will enable students to progress to one of the Cronton School of Art Level 3 Extended Diploma Art & Design pathways.
