A Level Requirements
To make up your A Level Programme, you will choose to study 3 A Level subjects.
You will need to achieve a minimum of two grade 5’s and three grade 4’s including English Language and Maths at GCSE. Each individual subject carries its own entry criteria and some subjects do require higher grades than this (for example A Level English and Maths both require a minimum grade 6 at GCSE).
For individual subject entry requirements and course details, please go to our website and look at the course information section.
In exceptional circumstances, students may be able to study 4 A Level subjects. This can be discussed at your college interview.
Our Admissions Team will talk you through the entry requirements for the subjects you are interested in so you have a clear understanding of what you are aiming for in your GCSE exams.

In order to achieve the best results and progression opportunities to university or employment, students on vocational courses study one programme, which will cover all aspects of their chosen industry.
BTEC programmes are a mixture of classroom and project study relating to the chosen industry, and students will be assessed by completing assignments, group projects and exams.
The level of course you start on will depend on your GCSE results.
- Level 3 – Five for more GCSEs at grade 9-4 including English Language
- Level 2 – Four or more GCSEs at grade 9-3 including English Language
- Level 1 – Four or more GCSEs at grade 9-2 including English Language
Higher grades in specific subjects are required in certain subjects. You can find the individual entry requirements for each course within the course information on the college website or by speaking to our Admissions Team who will advise you at your interview.
In exceptional circumstances, students may be able to study a relevant A Level alongside their BTEC programme. This can be discussed at your college interview.
